We went to the local Terrington church on Sunday morning and finished the afternoon at the local Lavender Farm. A good chance to give Sophie a break from study and for us all to relax after a busy week away in Scotland.
On Monday, we continued to book the Europe trip - a lot of logistics to make accommodation options align with the cheapest transport. We collected Sophie from school early, during her exam week. Just as I was about to go and collect Will, a water pipe blew out under the sink, flooding the kitchen. Fortunately, John managed to find out where to turn the water off and the landlord was home to do some emergency repairs. They were very good about finding a solution and even gave us a bottle of wine for our mopping up and the trouble that the leak caused. On Tuesday, we visited Hovingham Hall, which is only open in June, then on Wednesday, our walking continued - from Sherburn to Saxton Wold.
Thursday involved a trip to a local pottery shop and to Clifton Moore shops for some essentials. On Friday morning, I had coffee with Benji's mum at Castle Howard and then lunch with John at Sheriff Hutton - so, a nice finish to the week.
The days are now becoming somewhat similar - although still plenty to see and do - and the cricket and rounders matches continue.
Sophie and Will's school activities are keeping us constantly busy - not just a normal school routine - but also lining up what they need - given that we only came across with what we could easily carry - and it has taken a while to work out where to buy various things. We have needed to borrow a sleeping bag for camp, track down new swimming goggles when Will's have broken, etc... Everyone at school have been very helpful - even recommending a hairdresser.
Over the weekend, John and I visited Riveau Terrace (another National Trust place) and Thirsk on our way to Aysgarth to watch Will play cricket. The Aysgarth team was impressive - so, for the first time in a long time, the boys came away with a loss. We took Will back to school to join Sophie at the summer 'camp out'. Sophie had morning school, rounders at Terrington and had to be packed for 'camp out'. On Sunday afternoon, I took Sophie to Lottie's pool party and brought Sophie and 3 boarders back to Terrington afterwards.

I've been reluctant to post photos of other people's children on the blog - in case I offend someone - but the following are from the school website - so, I'm sure that parents won't mind me adding them here.
