On Thursday I went into Bettie's Tea Rooms in York for brunch with a couple of mums from school, They have been very welcoming and have made settling in very easy. I had to try the iconic fat scone and it was delicious. Friday was busy too, with some general tidying and then driving into St John's University sports fields to watch cricket against Minster. The U11s had a comfortable win, contrasting to their close loss against Bow earlier in the week. On the way back, we were invited home for a cuppa by one of the Terrington mums and her son We returned to Terrington for Will to have dinner at school followed by training in the cricket nets. I took Sophie home for her dinner. The Year 5 parents all had drinks at the Headmaster's house, with Sophie and Will hanging around with the boarders until around 8.30pm.
While Sophie and Will were in morning school, I went to Malton to do the food shopping and fuelled up the car. Then, home for loads and loads of washing. When I collected Will from school we drove down to Queen Margaret's School south of York, to watch Sophie play rounders. Her team had a comfortable win at 16.5 to 11. Sophie made many direct hits and was pleased to score 3 half rounders. One the way home we bought some basic tennis rackets as tennis seems to be the main lunchtime activity at school, especially for the girls and Will can only borrow a racket for his lesson for so long. Even though the kids were exhausted from so many busy weeks in a row, they insisted on a hit at the local Terrington courts. They are going to be very fit by the time that they get home! Plenty of 'prep' homework to do this morning (Sunday), followed by more tennis!
